Visited 3 temples (Kinkakuji Temple, Ryoanji Temple and Ninnaji Temple) located in North-West part of Kyoto.
Eventhough it was a weekday, there were alot of people (Japanese people, tourists and kids on school outing) going there.
During Obon festival in the Summer time, there will be some bonfire happening at a number of hills in Kyoto.
This one has a Chinese character big on it.
Ladies dressed up in yukata as they visited temples and shrines.
Guys also wear yukata but theirs won't be as colorful.
Kinkakuji Temple a.k.a Golden Pavilion.
Don't have to wonder why it's such a popular attraction for people visiting Kyoto.
This temple is actually covered in gold leaves as oppose to painted with gold paint.
Look at all those people taking pictures and posing with the Golden Pavilion in the background.
A resting place.
A Zen garden.
Another Zen garden but this one is in Ryoanji Temple.
Another popular place as you can see here.
The stones represent the islands and the white pebbles represent the ocean of water.
Oh, we all have to take off our shoes before entering any temples and shrines.
Sometimes I worried, what if someone might walk away with my shoes and I'd have to walk home barefooted.
Good thing that hasn't happened so far.
Japanese likes to use moss covering instead of grass in their Japanese gardens.
A gardener weeding away.
Another gardener pruning away.
Japanese pennies are made of aluminum.
Here people threw in their pennies before making their wishes.
I suppose they will only get pennies worth of blessings.
My lunch called Nishinsoba (herring and soba).
Soba is buckwheat noodles.
Not sure why the trees were trimmed that way.
A pagoda in Ninnaji Temple.
That's a typical Japanese fire truck.
Streets in the city can get quite narrow.
Some streets are just a little wider than the width of a car.
So, this fire truck will fit through with no problem.
My 1179Kcal dinner consisting of beef and egg on rice bowl and udon bowl.
Now I'm energized.
