Matsue is a small and quiet city.
I was walking towards Matsue castle in the morning when I noticed a number of boats in the Ohashi-gawa river.
The boatmen were doing something.
At first I thought they were preparing to go out to the lake.
But then I noticed they were all scooping something from the river.
It seemed they were all scooping for clams.

Matsue castle is one of 12 remaining castles in this region.
In 1875, all the buildings within the castle grounds were destroyed except this tower.
I could see Lake Shinji and the city from the tower.
