Visited Tsurugajo Castle in Aizuwakamatsu City.
Tsurugajo Castle was originally contructed in 1593 but then torn down in 1874 after a civil war.
In 1965, it was reconstructed to its original form.
Now the castle has become a museum.
Edo period toys.
Tea ceremony hut.
Green tea (macha) and sweet mochi.
Rickshaw pulled by a runner in traditional costume of Edo period.
Akabeko (a traditional toy cow).
Normally it is colored red but also comes in other varieties.
Modern Akabeko.
Tohoku & Joetsu Shinkansen, code name "Max".
Shinkansen is also called "Bullet Train".
Yamagata Shinkansen, code name "Tsubasa".
Max & Tsubasa mated together.
I believe once they reach Fukushima, they'll split up with Max going up to Hachinohe and Tsubasa going to Yamagata.
Tohoku Shinkansen, code name "Hayate", whizzed by on one of the two inner tracks (there are 4 tracks all together).
It was really fun to watch.
First there'd be an annoucement about an approaching train and a few minutes later you see the lights from the train and seconds later it rumbles the station as it whizzed by. And this would happen about every 15 minutes.
A train painted like an Akabeko.
Rice fields.
This can be seen everywhere.
They are grown in both big and small plots.
Now is harvesting season.
Tanaba or Star Festival.
Sendai celebrates it every August.
It's over now but they still hang them in Sendai station.
Outside Sendai station.
Neon signs are everywhere advertising the stores' business.
Parco department store.
Leather boots and handbags.
Huge colorful stockings, for decorations of course.
Toys in a gaming arcade.
